WHAT IS AN OUTDOOR Walking Play?
Imagine 10-40 kids gathered outdoors in a natural setting: a park, camp, school or wilderness site. A costumed character enters and asks for help - and soon the kids set off on a quest. As the character walks with the kids they encounter other characters, play games and learn more about the many diverse sides of nature and SUSTAINABLE LIVING CONCEPTS. On an OUTDOOR Walking PLAY kids are completely engaged because they are part of the story. Their actions and what they learn help defeat the villain or help another animal. In the end, the kids feel like heroes. You easily can run these outings for your kids (ages 4-10). And - if you have teenagers in your group, they love to lead outings for younger children.

The Magical Earth Book (MEB) is inside the main book and a prop in each story. It contains the entire script and the main character reads from the script as he/she walks with the kids. BIRDMAN
LEVEL ONE

Birdman has forgotten how to be a bird. He ate a white blanko-berry and remembers nothing. If the kids learn about birds--what they eat, the sounds they make, nest building and how they move--they might find Birdman and help him remember.
In addition to learning about birds, the kids learn the value of helping others, especially other animals. And yes--the kids dance the Funky Chicken! (School standards: Key Idea 7.1c, K: Earth Sciences 1st-3rd grades: Life Sciences.)

NATURE HEROES
LEVEL ONE

Zip Zap, a Nature Hero, needs help caring for the planet. Nature villains are everywhere. Kids participate in activities that teach them how to live like Nature Heroes. Once they complete their training, they confront the Spoiler, a Nature villain, in an effort to change his misguided ways.
Nature Hero Training: experience Nature from different perspectives, discover ways to care for the environment and learn the value of diversity. The kids also adopt the motto, “to preserve and protect the planet.” (School standards: Life Sciences K-2nd grade)

ANIMAL CIRCLE CLUB
LEVEL TWO

In order to join the Animal Circle Club the kids must answer four riddles about animals and perform four playful tasks for the Gate Keepers. With each success they move closer to finding the magic box, which teaches them the secret to joining the club.
During the walk the children learn fun facts about different animals, play games and begin to understand the importance of the phrase “kindness and caring for all.” (School standards: Life Sciences K-3rd grade, K: Investigation & Experimentation)

STAGE SHOWS
|
Each stage show explores a different environmental theme, and engages kids in the audience to cheer the heroes as they try to defeat the bumbling villains. Seen by thousands of children in school assemblies in N. California, Nature’s Theater now offers these unique stories for your group to perform.
These shows are perfect for teenage or young adult actors, and there’s always a role for younger children who have a flair for drama, with little or no acting experience. |

THE KIDS FROM PLANET EARTH
|
|
A small group of kids have noticed their parents acting a little weird—weirder than usual. They’re turning into buying zombies with little regard for the health of the planet.
With guidance from a mysterious and invisible being the kids form a team: the Kids from Planet Earth. Their mission: stop the grownups from turning the planet into a giant garbage can. The kids eventually come face to face with the real villains of the story, Major Drool and Private Buddle—two bumbling fools who control the grownups and are now after the kids. This comedy highlights ways to live a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.

THE SEARCH FOR KING CARBON
|
The Earth King needs help caring for the planet. He turns to his trusted robot, a local guide and a few kids from the audience to find King Carbon and get him to stop making so many CO2’s.
On their quest the heroes learn ways to reduce CO2’s that come from cars, from electricity and ask questions about the stuff they buy, especially cheap, disposable stuff. The Search for King Carbon is a stage production that entertains and informs its young audience about climate change. It’s also a family comedy that just might convince your kids to turn off the lights.

JUNKY'S LAST STAND
|
Junky is on an all out campaign to convert kids into Junk food slaves. But when she tries to cast her spell on young Charlotte and Sabrina, the girls, with help from Tommy Zucchini ("defender of da fruits and vegetables") and their all-seeing friend Seymour, have some decisions to make.
Should they eat sweets all the time or only on special occasions? What should they do about animals trapped in cages all their lives and which is better to eat foods sprayed with chemicals or to eat organically? Junky’s Last Stand is a comedy with five songs that teaches kids how to make healthy food choices for their bodies and the Earth.
